How to invite your team and choose roles
Send an invite, understand what each role can change, and remove a member.
Every confirmed incident gets one named owner, so incidents need people. This covers inviting them and choosing what they can change.
Who can do this: Owner only.
How roles are set
Nobody picks their own role. The first person to sign up is the Owner; everyone after that gets the role chosen by whoever invited them.
The rule that matters: a role decides what you may change — never what you may see. Every role sees every monitor, every setting and every incident.
Send an invite
Open Team in the sidebar.

- Enter the email address.
- Choose the role.
- Choose Send invite.
The panel below the field shows what that role grants while you are still choosing it, so you are not finding out after the permission already exists.

Invites go by email, or by both Slack and email if Slack is connected.
The three roles
Owner can change everything: monitors, per-site thresholds, alert routing, ingest keys, and the team itself (invite, remove, set roles).
DevOps can change monitors, per-site thresholds, alert routing and ingest keys. They cannot invite, remove or set roles.
Developer changes nothing in settings. They see and work every incident, exactly like the other two.
Change or remove a member
Use the role dropdown on any row to change a role, and Remove to take someone off the workspace. The Owner cannot be removed.
Removing the developer who was first responder moves incidents back to the Owner automatically.
If you are on your own
The page tells you plainly: until you invite someone, every confirmed incident is assigned to you automatically and alerts you immediately. That is a workable setup — as long as you know it.
Troubleshooting
Everything on this page is greyed out. You are not the Owner. Inviting, removing and changing roles is an Owner action; you can still see the whole team.
My developer says they cannot edit a monitor. They are a Developer. Change them to DevOps if they should manage monitors, thresholds and routing.
The invite has not arrived. Check spam. If Slack is connected, it was also sent there.
